SUB-DIVISIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE AMPATI
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION & PUBLIC RELATIONS
The Sub-Divisional Public Relations Office, Ampati, South West Garo Hills, was formally established at Ampati in a rented building near Deputy Commissioner's Office Comples 2001. Prior to this the establishment was attached with the Office of the District Public Relations Officer, Tura.
As per the Citizen Charter, Information & Public Relations Department is primarily a multi-media advertising agency informing people about the activities, policies and programmes of the Central and State Government and to motivate them to participate in the developmental activities through different languages, media, press, outdoor publicity and exhibitions. It also provides feedback to the Government about the people’s reactions to the Government policies and programmes as reflected in the media through Press clippings.
Special Interactive Programmes (SIPs):
During the year 2008-09, in the context of intense implementation of different programmes, this office has organized Special Interactive Programmes at Boldamgre under Zikzak Block and Bainapara under Betasing Block on the theme: “Participatory Approach to Development” and during the current year it was organized at Mellim under Gambegre Block and Ponchapara under Zikzak Block.
Resource persons from different development departments were invited to participate in these interactive programmes, wherein they informed and highlighted different schemes and programmes that are available with their respective departments in the interest of rural people.
Besides highlighting different schemes by different line departments, the office also attempts to bring awareness to the rural people about the Right to Information Act, 2005 in every such interactive programmes.
Distribution of DTH Sets:
During the financial year 2008-09, this office has distributed Direct to Home (DTH) TV sets to selected villages. The main objective of the distribution of DTH sets to the rural areas is to make the people acquainted with the DTH facility being provided by the Prasar Bharati. Emphasis is given to those electrified areas where the DD signal is not available or negligible, so that people residing in those shadow areas could view programmes as offered by Doordarshan Kendra through DTH platform.
The office has made an all out effort to disseminate information to the people through press coverage of all important Government programmes and functions, including the visits of VVIPs and other dignitaries.
Public Address System:
This office has arranged Public Address System without fail, in all Government programmes, functions and also during General election to the Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha, facilitating smooth conduct and discharging duties efficiently.
